HOW IS A TEST BENCH DEVELOPED?
OUR EXPERTS ON THE SUBJECT OF TEST INSTRUMENTS
The PWFT experts answer these and other questions in this section.
A test bench is a mostly mechatronic device that implements a test method for practical application. The test method is usually already tailored to the specific requirements of the test task at hand. It is then practically implemented
in the test bench and used as required for different applications. The implementation of the test method in the test bench takes into account, among other things, requirements for the handling of the test specimens, the automation of
the test procedure and the evaluation and storage of the measurement data. When testing the sharpness of knives, the same test method "longitudinal foil cut" is implemented in different test devices for different areas of
application.
We build test benches for you.
For example, the PWFT test bench for a random sample test in the laboratory (Profi-Cut) looks different from a 100% test at the end of the production line
(Master-Cut).

How can I check product features that are particularly important for the customer?
|
Product tests are ideally oriented towards the needs of the customer. The goal must be to test the product features that are particularly important for the customer when using it. To do this, you must first know the product features
relevant to the customer, ideally unique selling points (USPs). In the next step, these must become testable functional features of the products, i.e. features must be defined that are also technically measurable or testable. In many
cases, there is a lack of test methods that are tailored to these specific product features.
PWFT specialises in developing test methods for specific product features.
We place a special focus on the applicational behaviour of a product at the customer's site and support them in the definition of the product characteristics and the development of test methods and equipment.

What distinguishes quality assurance in manufacturing companies from customer-oriented product testing?
|
Quality assurance in manufacturing companies is usually defined on a production-specific basis, i.e. the companies analyse risks of their manufacturing processes and ensure with quality assurance measures that the products do not
deviate from their specification. The primary goal is to manufacture the products in reproducible quality and in conformity with the defined requirements. The testing processes defined for this purpose are important and justified, but
do not always say anything about the perceived quality of the customer. Ideally, product specifications are defined to include the customer's usage behaviour, but this chain of thought is not always consistently implemented.
Die PWFT ist darauf spezialisiert, Prüfmethoden für spezifische,
kundenfokussierte Produktmerkmale zu entwickeln.

What is the difference between a test method and a test instrument?
|
The test method describes the procedure for implementing a test principle in a process sequence. The measuring principle the basic sequence of a test. A Test device implements a test method in practice. For example, to test the
sharpness of a razor blade, a patented test method is used in which the force when cutting through a thread-like test medium is recorded and evaluated as a measure of sharpness.
In PWFT's SRF razor blade tester, it is implemented with a reproducible recording of the razor blade, a precisely guided cutting movement and an
automatic thread feed in such a way that a wear curve up to the end of the blade's
service life can be recorded with many, automatically executed cuts without user intervention.
We support you in developing test methods for your specific product characteristics and in building suitable test equipment for you.

What are mechatronic products?
|
In mechatronic products, the disciplines of mechanics, electrics or electronics and computer science work together. Sensors and actuators are often used. One example of this is a test bench, which is often developed and built as
mechatronic product. Frames, guides, gears, clamping systems and workpiece holders are examples of mechanical components in a test bench. As a rule, measured variables are recorded, i.e. sensors are used to record process variables
such as forces, temperatures or pressure. Relative movements require drives, which in turn require a power supply and control signals. All components work together in a network, which is usually implemented with programmable sequence
controls. The measured signals are digitised, analysed with evaluation software, condensed and usually visualised in a meaningful way.
At PWFT, all the necessary disciplines and competences for the development and construction of mechatronic products are available. We develop and build mechatronic products according to your requirements and wishes.
